Case Study - Dream Concerts

Dream Concerts Ltd is a Company founded originally by Bob & Julia England in 2001. Unfortunately, Bob passed away in 2004 and Julia took over the reigns. After numerous trials and tribulations, Julia brought in Kenny Moore, one of the leading Producers, Directors and choreographers in the industry and the Company has gone from strength to strength securing funding for some stunning shows.

This year they have been touring their new production, Chicago & Beyond, and they decided to outsource the sound setups to Alive & Sound to meet with the rising demands of their growing company. They needed us to meet a budget, and provide outstanding levels of commitment to ensure the shows were a success. The call actually came in a week before the first show, as they had been let down by another company!

Each show consists of 6 musicians including a full drum set, and 8 actors/actresses, and the show audience ranges from 200-800 depending on the venues they are performing at. Alive & Sound provides AKG wireless headsets for the actors and dancers, and various microphones and DI boxes for the musicians. This is all mixed through a Soundcraft Live8 40 Channel Mixer, feeding a 6 way monitor setup and a stereo front of house system.

For the monitor setups we used a combination of active Mackie SRM450 speakers and the slightly smaller SRM350 speakers for the more space conscious parts of the stage. The front of house system consists of 4 Mackie SA1530z Super Active speakers and a pair of SWA1801z 18inch subs for the low end, this creates a fantastic sound right through the auditorium.
